Introduction
Thankfully, if you live in the Northern Hemisphere like we do, you will be starting to notice that spring is finally emerging after what seemed like a very long winter. Of course, this means that we will all be gradually starting to show a little bit more skin and when the sun comes out everything is more visible – so our skin and hair need to be in tip top condition.
This week we have written about our favourite products to help us get in the mode for spring, and also prepare for any upcoming sun holidays. We’ll tell you why we like the product and how we use it. And everything we have chosen is well within a sensible budget!
#1 Protect Your Skin From Sun Damage: Sun Protection Factor (SPF)
Pretty much every skincare expert is going to tell you to wear an SPF every day, even in the winter. Photo-aging, caused by the sun, is one of the worst culprits for causing skin aging; this damage can happen any time of the year, but spring and summer is when the sun is going to be at its strongest.
So SPF should be part of your daily routine. Of course, you can buy products like foundation that have an SPF incorporated but during the summer, we would recommend using a stand-alone factor 50 SPF and apply it on your body wherever you get the sun – face, neck, decolletage and the back of your hands.
Apart from premature aging, exposure to the sun can also cause hyperpigmentation or dark spots; essentially brown marks on your skin that you can’t erase. It can be very time-consuming and expensive to try to treat hyperpigmentation – so do yourself a favour and wear sunscreen, and don’t overexpose your face to the sun.

- This sunscreen keeps the skin both nourished and protected.
- It is lightweight and spreads across the skin easily without looking heavy or greasy.
- Melts into the skin with ease and leaves a radiant glow.
- Specifically made for sensitive skin needing high-protection.
- Great on your face and neck under foundation.
- Won't leave stains on clothing.
- A little goes a long way!
#2 Remove That Layer of Dead Skin: An Exfoliating Glove
Over the winter, most of us probably have not been exfoliating and our skin may look quite dull. You need to remove the dead skin layer, and a great way to do this is to exfoliate as part of your showering process. We would generally only use the glove on our arms, hands and legs as it would be too harsh for your face and neck. An exfoliating scrub can be used for your face.
You should also think about getting a pedicure to remove the hard skin from your feet and make sure your toenails look nice when you are wearing sandals.
- GENTLE YET EFFECTIVE: This exfoliating glove is soft to the touch but strong enough to exfoliate away dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. Say goodbye to harsh scrubs that irritate your skin!
- BEFORE AND AFTER RESULTS: Experience a transformational change in your skin texture! Our shower gloves deliver visible results that you'll notice immediately—your skin will go from dull and lifeless to vibrant and glowing.
#3 Deeply Nourish Your Neglected Skin: Bio Oil
We love this product! Mainly we use it at night because it’s an oil and is a bit too heavy and shiny for daytime use. It is really good for nourishing legs that have been neglected over the winter. We recommend Bio Oil for face and neck massage and for more information you might want to check out our article – Facial massage: could this be the answer to your anti-aging prayers?
Bio Oil can also be used to treat scarring and stretchmarks. As we always say, to see good results in terms of treating skin damage, you will need to apply the oil and massage it into your skin for a few minutes on a regular basis, possibly three or four times a week.
We think that every beauty cabinet needs a bottle of Bio Oil!
- Bio-Oil Skincare Oil: Clinically proven to help improve the appearance of new and old scars, stretch marks forming during pregnancy, teenage growth spurts, periods of rapid weight gain and helps with uneven skin tone
- Contains vitamins and essential oils for improving your skin: the unique combination of PurCellin Oil and Vitamin A and E complex will ensure the improvement of the skin texture and elasticity & provide non-greasy hydration
#4 Get Your Hair, Eyebrows and Lashes in Top Shape: Rosemary Oil
Rosemary Oil can be used for skin massage in a similar way to Bio Oil but most people use it for hair regrowth. A lot of people use it overnight on their scalp and seem to see good results. It is also used on eyebrows for regrowth and volume, and on eyelashes for length. As with your scalp, you would apply it before bed, using a brush applicator.

#5 Brighten Your Skin After the Long Winter: Vitamin C Serum
According to Healthline.com, Vitamin C Serum has many amazing benefits including hydrating and brightening your skin, fading hyperpigmentation and promoting collagen growth. A lot of skincare experts recommend applying Vitamin C Serum daily along with an SPF.
The Seeoran team likes Vitamin C Serum because the benefits are backed by science, and it is generally quite inexpensive. It is very light and easily absorbed into your skin, making it perfect for daytime wear. Check out our article Vitamin C – why you really need it to slow down skin aging!

# 6 Hydrate Your Arms & Legs for Day Time Exposure: Snail Mucin
If you haven’t heard of Snail Mucin, you might find the concept a little strange. It is made almost entirely of actual snail secretion, and it has quite a sticky texture. It comes from Korean skincare practice and many people love it, touting benefits ranging from fading dark spots, to reducing fine lines, to really good hydration.
We don’t know if it fades dark spots or not, but we do know that it is a good moisturiser, and it will give your arms and legs are lovely glow during the spring and summer.

#7 A Little Bit of Colour Can Look Great: Gradual Tanning Lotion
When you start exposing your arms and legs as the weather gets warmer, it looks great if they have a bit of colour. We prefer gradual tanning lotion and when we use it, we exfoliate beforehand, we take the time to rub it in evenly and we towel off any excess cream. It is best to use a glove to apply tanning lotion but, if you don’t, make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly, especially in between your fingers.
- SUN-KISSED GLOW: Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tan Moisturiser helps to build a radiant, sun-kissed looking glow all year round
- 24HR HYDRATION: Suitable for face and body, this moisturiser intensively hydrates all day long leaving your skin feeling soft and supple with a gradual glowing tan
- FAST-ABSORBING: Summer Body is formulated to be fast-absorbing with easy, uniform application for an even natural looking tan
- DERMATOLOGICALLY TESTED: Garnier Summer Body is dermatologically tested and suitable for sensitive skin
- LEAPING BUNNY APPROVED by Cruelty Free International
There are two reasons that we prefer gradual tanning lotion – number one, it is more subtle and it is less obvious that you have applied a fake tan. The second reason is that fake tan streaks very easily and you will rarely see someone with fake tan on who doesn’t have tell tale signs around their hands or wrists.
Our position is that we don’t need to look like we just came back from two weeks in Tenerife where we did nothing but lie in the sun all day, we are just wanting to have a healthy glow and that is why we recommend gradual tanning lotion.
Conclusion
We love this time of the year – it’s so exciting to be planning our spring wardrobe and thinking about our summer holidays. We’re based in Ireland and the winter has been very long and very grey!
We hope our suggestions above are helpful. If you’re anything like us, you probably haven’t looked at your legs in months – so its time to get exfoliating and moisturising.
Is there anything that you like to do to prepare for spring that we haven’t mentioned? What are your favourite summer products?
